More info on pets in the park. 70 Mile coastline and nature preserve, longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre, nesting ground for the Kemp's ridley sea turtle and a haven for 380 species of bird; historical (16th century) Spanish shipwrecks *Dogs must be leashed at all times in park *Pets NOT allowed: on the deck of Malaquite Pavilion and its facilities, the boardwalk that goes from the deck down to the beach, and the short stretch of beach directly in front of the Pavilion (where the shade structures are located). |

The dog park is open to the general public from 7:00 a.m - Dusk. All animals must be leashed when entering the park and leashed when leaving. The park has two sections for large and small dogs, water fountains for the canines and shaded seating. There is also playground equipment for dogs to test their skills. Next to the convention center is the popular Laguna Madre Nature Trail, a must for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. North is a beachfront access road which opens up twenty miles of drive on the beach for the more adventurous. On the bay side of the park, you'll find popular spots for windsurfing and wade fishing. Dog Park in South Padre island, Texas The Park is situated on the banks of the Arroyo Colorado, and is located within the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. The park has lighted fishing piers, picnic areas, a playground, boat ramp with fish cleaning stations and courtesy docks, nature trail, wildlife observation tower, tent camping area, and 35 full-hookup RV sites.
